Iloilo City Hymn Lyrics featuring places and events in the city of Iloilo

“Himno Sang Dakbanwa Sang Iloilo” - Iloilo City Hymn
Lyrics and Music by: Prof. Arne Lubasan

 I

Puluy-an ka sang mga dungganon
Guindihon sa imong gugmang bilidhon
Namat-an sang mga baganihan
Nakigbato para sa kahilwayan

 II
Dunang manggad sa amon guin-aman
Manggaran sa kulturang kinaadman
May maragtas nga madinu-agon
Bulawanon ang mga palanubli-on

Koro:

Iloilo, Iloilo
Dakbanwa kong nahamut-an
Iloilo, Iloilo
Bugal magpadulong diin man
Tampad nga magpabilin sa imo
Tungod palangga ko
Dakbanwang Iloilo, bugal ko!

III
Himpit nga gugma sa imo halad
Sakdagon ang imong katuyuan
Itib-ong ang kauswagan
Padayun nga angkunon ang katin-aran

    2. Iloilo in the past was hailed as the Most Loyal and Noble City. Many heroes who fought for our freedom were born here, to name a few Graciano Lopez
Jaena, Martin Delgado, and many others. Famous statesmen were born here the likes of Fernando Lopez, Rodolfo Ganzon etc.
Now Iloilo is tagged as the City of Love, because of the loving nature of the Ilonggos which is evident in the manner by which they speak which is know to be "malambing".
When the Bornean Datus came to Panay Island, much has been said about our colorful history.
The Iloilo River is the main vein of the city where commerce flourished which established Iloilo City as the Queen's City of the South.
Let us remain loyal to the City where we were born wherever we may lead. It is the place we love and will always return to. We will continue to support it and ensure its progress and development iniated by our honorable leaders.
Iloilo City, indeed you are our pride.
